Aodh Swan is a huge, handsome, golden, fire-breathing dragon. However, the interesting thing about him and his two younger brothers, Fiachra and Conn, is that they are not actually dragons, but princes with a terrible curse.
As children, their home was attacked, and an intricate spell was placed on them. Meant to kill them, instead it turned them into terrifying monsters. Luckily, they were still able to keep their human brains and hearts intact, at least for now. As time goes on the 3 dragons exhibit more and more beastly tendencies, like hoarding gold and treasures, and reverting to animal instincts.
The dragon's oldest sibling and rightful heir to House Swan, Fionnuala, sings to them and spends precious time with her little brothers, in hopes that they will not succumb to the beastly urges permanently. Aodh, as the eldest brother, takes most of the responsibility in helping his sister try to rebuild the kingdom that was stollen from them by their uncle and the Holy Empire. In the final battle of The Girl Who Sings to Dragons, Aodh carries his sister into the fray of battle on his back and shows off his advanced skills of fight and flight.
The golden dragon is the oldest and wisest of the three male heirs, often giving his sister and brothers advice from a perspective they had not thought of before. He is an amazing dragon and it is worth checking out Luke Courtney's new epic fantasy story. There will be more to come from Aodh and his two little brothers.
