I think by now most romance and fantasy lovers have read Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. I recently finished book 3, Onyx Storm, and I enjoyed it mostly for Andarna. This cute golden baby is now maturing and discovering who she is. She takes the spotlight and attention in this book, which is fine. I like her more than Xaden anyway, and the dragon lore and history are much more interesting to me than the spice scenes with the riders.

Andarna has all the fun sass and personality that I love in dragon characters. She only does what she wants. This fanart pictured above (not mine) really captures her well as Tairn watches. The fanart below as well (also not mine).

By book three however, her appearance shifts as she grows and no longer can hide the fact she is a bit different than the other dragons born in the veil. No longer a shimmering gold like all babies, she is able to change her scale color at will, deciding to go with a purple, almost black as her normal shade to hide in the shadows.
Below is a fan rendering of her as an adolescent instead of a baby. Credit to all these amazing artists for their work creating visuals of these beloved book characters.

Andarna is an Irid, a lost 7th dragon breed, and in order to learn about her family she must abandon the rider and life she loves. Finding the truth about herself is even more important than her bond with Violet.
I cant wait to see what her antics bring next as she upturns all understanding of how dragons act and bond with humans, and why.
